The good, the bad and the wisdom tooth

This week brings along with it a few things. Some nice, some guff – I’m sure you’re all itching to know what they are.

OX Seven (as Adam, Dom and I know it) is one. It’s not 100% true because Will has been around longer, but that was quite a big milestone being the first 3 hires. Things have changed a huge amount throughout the last 12 months from ideas of where the company is going, the layout of the desks (weekly for a while, v annoying) to the people in the office. The only constant has been Will’s crap music choices.

We’ve come a long way since then… about 5 meters into the next office. But no, everyone has settled and are much more comfortable with what they’re doing. Also, we’re past that stage of all being overly nice to each other all the time which does get tiring. You know those initial few weeks/months when you’re all just being well considerate? That’s over*.

Morrisons has almost finished their renovations and now it has a garden center out the front. Really great. Downsides include no longer knowing where things are, learning the chocolate is on the total opposite corner by the bakery and the aisles now being twice as long as they used to be so it’s more effort to find someone if you’ve lost them. No middle aisle pacing whilst looking from side to side… we’ve all been there.

I’ve booked myself on a course to learn something I’ve always wanted to do. Hopefully, I’ll not be really bad at it and it’ll be something to keep me occupied with when Harry is away working or on a night shift. A couple of my friends back home did it alongside their work and it was also a nice little earner. I know they say money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does pay for a holiday and well… that is the kind of happiness I’m craving currently.

My wisdom tooth has been a royal pain in the old behind since the weekend. Since I was 18 (7 years ago) it’s been like a whack a mole in there. Up down up down. It’s making my earache, my eye go all funny and half my face feels like it’s been slapped 20 times then dunked in an ice bath. You know that feeling you get when you submerge yourself in really cold water and your ears go all funny and hurt? Yeah, that, but with extra tooth pain and a swollen face. I feel like David after the Dentist but the tooth is still there. Is this real life?

So, all in all, it’s a 50/50.

Can’t complain about that.

Another pointless entry from yours truly. Next week I’ll tell you how to nail the interview or something useful that recruiters write about on their blogs.

*Dom took my empty bowl of porridge gains off the desk and into the dishwasher as I wrote this so sometimes we’re nice, I guess.
