Senior Manager (Tax Investigations)

Location Leeds or Birmingham
Salary £55,000 - £65,000
Industry Finance
Date posted 10/10/2023
Contract type Full-time

Are you currently working in a VAT inspection or investigatory role? You could be working for HMRC already or maybe you’ve just completed your inspection exams and are looking for a route into the private sector. This could be the role for you.

Our client specialises in dealing with tax and VAT disputes associated to HMRC for a wide variety of clients. They work to advise, support, protect and defend their clients or their intermediaries when difficult HMRC issues arise, and they have an immediate requirement for two Senior Managers to the join team.

You will have experience of dealing with HMRC tax investigations and inspections either for HMRC or for a private practice assisting on the client side of the dispute world. You will be comfortable speaking to clients to propose solutions to their problems and to provide guidance and support through the entire process.

Experience in code 9 investigations, time-to-pay arrangements, alternative dispute resolutions, tribunals, disclosures, and the intricacies of the HMRC operating procedure would be extremely advantageous to my client.

Our client places huge emphasis on training and developing all staff, and there is potential to gain additional qualifications to further your personal and career development. Every quarter there is a team learning session where everyone meets and shares knowledge on different areas of the business. Senior members of staff will take different questions on certain areas of the job and provide valuable insight and share expertise to help you develop as an individual and as a team.

This is not the sort of environment where you are clock watched on billable time, you are trusted to get on and manage your own diary. Ideally, you will be based within a commutable distance to their new offices in Leeds or Birmingham.

From a salary perspective you will be looking at between £55,000 – 65,000, standard holiday allowances and pension. You will be expected to be office-based for 4 days, with the flexibility to work from home for 1 day during your probationary period.

We appreciate this is only a snapshot of the role, so if you are interested and want to know more, call me, send me a message (Richard Lambert on LinkedIn), DM, or whatever is easiest. We encourage anyone who feels they are suitable to apply. We love seeing diversity in our applicants. We use specialist technology to ensure there are no gender biases in our adverts.

Every applicant will receive a response. We sometimes make mistakes and miss things from CVs, so you will be given an opportunity to receive feedback and discuss the role in more detail if you feel necessary.
