Software Engineer

Location: Oxford

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Industry: Information Technology

Job posted: 05/10/2020

Type: Full-time

Have the desire to be creative and do some good for others at the same time?

Well, then here’s your chance to help change society for the better. Now that’s quite a big claim, but don’t worry keep reading, we can back it up.

You’ll be at the forefront of turning cutting edge ideas into reality. Websites and apps can have an amazing impact on the modern world, it’s 2020 and everything is being made easier and smoother. You’ll be an advocate of that ease and how to create it.

You’ll be getting involved in a range of sectors including health, science, engineering and social care – a nice variety to keep you busy. Yes, the work will be challenging and diverse, but it just means your projects will never get boring and you won’t be stagnant on the same work, day after day.

You’ll have certain fundamentals that should really go without saying but we’ll mention them anyway. You’ll be able to build software apps from the ground up and apply object-oriented coding principles. You’ll be multi-lingual when it comes to computer languages such as Java, C#, C++, SQL and Python. If you’re a graduate who studied a relevant STEM subject this will certainly enhance your application.

It would be great if you also have experience and skills with some or all of the following; .Net Core 3.1, ASP.Net MVC, HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, Microsoft Azure and/or Mobile app development for both IOS and Android.

Enough about the requirements though – what’s in it for you?

You’ll be on £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience. 25 days holiday (and your bank holidays), plus the option to buy 10 more. Not enough time off? You can take a 4-week sabbatical every 5 years too.

If you don’t have your health you haven’t got anything, so life, critical illness and income protection cover will help with that. Your long-term goals will also be taken care of with £1,000/5 days per year contributed towards training alongside regular mentoring and career advice.

Like free stuff? Who doesn’t – free fruit, hot drinks and fortnightly lunches at local restaurants. You’ll be joining a sociable bunch and regularly get out for quizzes, games nights, films, punting – the list goes on.

Let’s have a chat about this one. You can call (my number is on the OX Seven website), add me on LinkedIn – Adam Williams, or you can send over a CV to if you have one to hand. We understand not everyone does, so we can talk either way.
